The Firs Welcomes Chester Re-engage Group for a Special Afternoon Tea

Pupils and staff at The Firs School, Chester, were delighted to welcome members of the Chester Re-engage group and their volunteer drivers to a special afternoon tea at the school.
The event brought together different generations for an afternoon filled with warmth, laughter and community spirit. Pupils from the School Council stepped confidently into their hosting role, serving tea and a selection of delicious homemade cakes complimented with welcoming smiles. The School Choir also entertained visitors with a performance of uplifting songs, with several guests joining in for the final number.
Adding to the occasion, children from Fir Cones Nursery made a special visit to say hello, bringing plenty of smiles and helping to make the afternoon even more memorable.
Re-engage is a charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people, creating opportunities for friendship, conversation and meaningful connections. The visits are always a highlight in the school calendar, with pupils, staff and guests alike looking forward to the opportunity to spend time together.
This event is one of the many ways that The Firs continues to nurture strong community relationships and helps pupils understand the importance of kindness and giving back.
Headteacher David Girvan said: "It was a pleasure to welcome our guests to The Firs and to see our pupils engaging so warmly with members of the local community. Events such as these are incredibly important in bringing generations together, and I was immensely proud of our choir, School Council and all the children who helped make the afternoon so special. The joy, laughter and conversation shared by everyone was a wonderful reminder of the value of community and connection."
The Firs School looks forward to welcoming the group back in the future and continuing to support initiatives that bring people together and strengthen community ties.
