Where Learning Meets Adventure: The Firs School Pupils Enjoy Action-Packed Residentials
Summer term always marks an exciting milestone for pupils at The Firs School, Chester, as they embark on their annual residential trips. Year 3 and 4 pupils travelled to Castleton, while Years 5 and 6 headed to Conwy for a week of fun, challenge, and discovery.
The residentials were packed with memorable moments from conquering scenic hikes to trying out new outdoor activities. Each child returned home with a personal highlight, whether it was achieving something new, building stronger friendships, or enjoying time away from home in a supportive setting.
These trips are a valued part of The Firs School’s approach to holistic education. They offer more than just adventure; they help pupils develop key life skills such as resilience, independence, teamwork, and self-organisation. Teachers noted the growth in confidence and camaraderie among the children during their time away.
Head Teacher Mr David Girvan commented:"Residentials are such a powerful part of what we offer at The Firs. They provide a chance for children to step out of their comfort zones, discover new strengths, and build bonds that carry over into school life. We’re incredibly proud of how the pupils embraced the experience and grateful to our staff who make it possible."
Photos from the trips capture the spirit of the adventure – smiling faces, new experiences, and the joy of learning beyond the classroom.
