The Firs School’s Climbing Club Reaches New Heights!
Pupils at The Firs School in Chester are reaching new heights—both figuratively and literally—thanks to the school's thriving climbing club. This popular club, which continues to grow in popularity, has recently seen its young climbers progress to Level 2 of the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS), an excellent achievement that highlights their dedication, skill, and perseverance.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors, The Firs School’s climbers have developed not only their technical abilities but also their confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The club has helped the children learn to work together, with students supporting each other as they tackle challenging routes and push their limits.
One of the most exciting aspects of the club’s recent success is the enthusiasm it has sparked beyond the school walls. Over the recent half-term break, many young climbers took their families to The Climbing Hut in Ellesmere Port to showcase what they’ve been learning at the club. Their eagerness to share their skills reflects the passion and motivation nurtured within this great after school club.
David Girvan Headteacher at The Firs School commented, "We are incredibly proud of our pupils' achievements in the climbing club. Their commitment and enthusiasm are inspiring, and it’s wonderful to see them excelling in a sport that builds resilience and confidence."
