Meet the teacher: Millie Seger-Bernard, Deputy Head
Name: Millie Seger-Bernard
Title/role: Deputy Head, Year 4 Teacher and Inclusion leader
How long have you been a teacher? This is my eighth year as a teacher.
What made you want to be a teacher?
I have always enjoyed meeting new people and working to help others. When studying childcare, learning and development I
worked with children from birth to eight years old. Throughout this course, I found that I really enjoyed being in the classroom and supporting children on their educational learning journey.
From here I reflected on my own experiences of school and realised that I wanted to be like the people who had helped me in my childhood, we all have those teachers we will never forget! I am passionate about teaching and learning that meets the needs of all learners!
If you hadn’t become a teacher, what would you have done instead? A weather presenter!
What were your favourite lessons at school? And least?
Art and Geography were my favourite subjects, if I had to pick a least favourite it would be History!
However, now that I teach History, my opinion has changed!
What is your favourite film? Matilda
Your Desert Island Disc(s)? Any Adele album
How do you relax?
I love to go and walk in nature, North Wales and the Lake District are my favourite places to explore!
What is the one thing that makes you most proud of where you work?
The family for all members of the school community and how all of the children value and
respect one another.
If you could be King/Queen for a day, what’s the first thing you would do?
I would give every child a book voucher for a high quality text to aim to develop a love
for reading.
